44c004c84e Normalize C source files to end with exactly one newline
Some editors automatically remove trailing blank lines, or
automatically add a trailing newline to avoid having a trailing
non-blank line that is not terminated by a newline. To avoid unrelated
whitespace changes when users of such editors contribute to GLib,
let's pre-emptively normalize all files.

Unlike more intrusive whitespace normalization like removing trailing
whitespace from each line, this seems unlikely to cause significant
issues with cherry-picking changes to stable branches.

Implemented by:

    find . -name '*.[ch]' -print0 | \
    xargs -0 perl -0777 -p -i -e 's/\n+\z//g; s/\z/\n/g'

4b94c0831e Use 'dumb quotes' rather than `really dumb quotes'
Back in the far-off twentieth century, it was normal on unix
workstations for U+0060 GRAVE ACCENT to be drawn as "‛" and for U+0027
APOSTROPHE to be drawn as "’". This led to the convention of using
them as poor-man's ‛smart quotes’ in ASCII-only text.

However, "'" is now universally drawn as a vertical line, and "`" at a
45-degree angle, making them an `odd couple' when used together.

Unfortunately, there are lots of very old strings in glib, and also
lots of new strings in which people have kept up the old tradition,
perhaps entirely unaware that it used to not look stupid.

Fix this by just using 'dumb quotes' everywhere.

	* gutils.c (g_path_is_absolute): Match also UNC paths on Win32.

* testgdate.c, testgdateparser.c: Two new files. This is kind of
ugly code, but I want to go ahead and make the tests available.
It isn't contaminating any other code. :-) Since one of these
is interactive and the other takes a while to run, I've kept
them separate from testglib for now.
* Makefile.am: Build gdate test programs.
