Revert "gio/tests/cancellable: Explain failure on GCancellableSource tests on valgrind"
This reverts commit 365411ea32.

Since commit 3a07b2abd4, issue 2309 has
been fixed, so we should no longer have failures from valgrind here.

tests: Run expected-to-hang cancellable tests in subprocesses
These tests are expected to cause a thread to deadlock. That seems to be
fine with glibc on Linux, but the glibc version on FreeBSD can detect
the deadlock, and aborts the whole test process with:
```
GLib (gthread-posix.c): Unexpected error from C library during 'pthread_mutex_lock': Resource deadlock avoided.  Aborting.
```

This is fair enough.

To avoid this causing the test suite to fail, run those two tests in
subprocesses. This also means we’re not carrying a deadlocked thread
around for the rest of the test suite.

Improves on commit 62192925b6.

3a07b2abd4 GCancellable: Use per-instance mutex logic instead of global critical sections
GCancellable is meant to be used in multi-thread operations but all the
cancellable instances were sharing a single mutex to synchronize them
which can be less optimal when many instances are in place.
Especially when we're doing a lock/unlock dances that may leave another
thread to take the control of a critical section in an unexpected way.

This in fact was leading to some races in GCancellableSources causing
leaks because we were assuming that the "cancelled" callback was always
called before our dispose implementation.

As per this, use per-instance mutexes.

The lock is also now used only to protect the calls that may interact
with cancelled state or that depends on that, as per this we can just
reduce it to the cancel and reset case, other than to the connect one to
prevent the race that we could have when connecting to a cancellable
that is reset from another thread.

We don't really need to release the locks during callbacks now as they
are per instance, and there's really no function that we allowed to call
during a ::cancelled signal callback that may require an unlocked state.
This could been done in case with a recursive lock, that is easy enough
to implement but not really needed for this case.

It looks like that finally also valgrind notices the same leaks as
address sanitizer does. It does it more randomly but it still happens,
so better to inform about until #2309 is resolved.

cdda03a690 GCancellable: Ensure it is always cancelled on connect callback
When a cancellable is cancelled when we call g_cancellable_connect we
used to immediately call the provided callback, while this is fine we
actually had race in case the cancellable was about to be reset or in
the middle of a cancellation.

In fact it could happen that when we released the mutex, another thread
could reset the cancellable just before the callback is actually called
and so leading to call it with g_cancellable_cancelled() == FALSE.

So to handle this, make disconnect and reset function to wait for
connection emission to finish, not to break their assumptions.

This can be tested using some "brute-force" tests where multiple threads
are racing to connect and disconnect while others are cancelling and
resetting a cancellable, ensuring that all works as we expect.

f378352051 tests: Mark tests with AddressSanitizer-detected leaks
Various tests have leaks where it isn't clear whether the data is
intentionally not freed, or leaked due to a bug. If we mark these
tests as TODO, we can skip them under AddressSanitizer and get the
rest to pass, giving us a baseline from which to avoid regressions.

ee3216b31b tests: Iterate the GMainContext directly rather than using a GMainLoop
This speeds up the `cancellable` test a little by stopping waiting for
the threads to start up as soon as they have started, rather than after
an arbitrary timeout.

5b12608157 tests: Fix intermittent failure in GCancellableSource test
It seems that allowing the GCancellable to be finalised in either the
main thread or the worker thread sometimes leads to crashes when running
on CI.

I cannot reproduce these crashes locally, and various analyses with
memcheck, drd and helgrind have failed to give any clues.

Fix this for this particular test case by deferring destruction of the
`GCancellable` instances until after the worker thread has joined.
That’s OK because this test is specifically checking a race between
`g_cancellable_cancel()` and disposal of a `GCancellableSource`.

The underlying bug remains unfixed, though, and I can only hope that we
eventually find a reliable way of reproducing it so it can be analysed
and fixed.

9f27f49e34 tests: Speed up the cancellable test
The test added for #1841 spawned 100000 threads. That was fine on a
desktop machine, but on a heavily loaded CI machine, it could result in
large (and unpredictable) slowdowns, resulting in the test taking over
120s in about 1 in 5 runs, and hence failing that CI pipeline due to a
timeout. When passing normally on CI, the test would take around 90s.

Here’s a histogram of time per iteration on a failing (timed out) test
run. Each iteration is one thread spawn:

There’s no actual need for the test to spawn 100000 threads, so rewrite
it to reuse a single thread, and pass new data to that thread.

Reverting the original commit (e4a690f5dd) reproduces the failure on
100 out of 100 test runs with this commit applied, so the test still
works.

The test now takes 3s, rather than 11s, to run on my computer, and has
passed when run with `meson test --repeat 1000 cancellable`.

e4a690f5dd gcancellable: Fix minor race between GCancellable and GCancellableSource
There’s a minor race condition between cancellation of a `GCancellable`,
and disposal/finalisation of a `GCancellableSource` in another thread.

Thankfully, the `GCancellable` sets `cancelled_running` while it’s
emitting the `cancelled` signal, so if `cancellable_source_dispose()` is
called while that’s high, we know that the thread which is doing the
cancellation has already started (or is committed to starting) calling
`cancellable_source_cancelled()`.

Fix the race by resurrecting the `GCancellableSource` in
`cancellable_source_dispose()`, and signalling this using
`GCancellableSource.resurrected_during_cancellation`. Check for that
flag in `cancellable_source_cancelled()` and ignore cancellation if it’s
set.

The modifications to `resurrected_during_cancellation` and the
cancellable source’s refcount have to be done with `cancellable_mutex`
held so that they are seen atomically by each thread. This should not
affect performance too much, as it only happens during cancellation or
disposal of a `GCancellableSource`.

3894335dc6 tests: Don't "timeout tests" by default
Those tests seem to regularly fail because a timeout (which we're
measuring outside the function that times out) is too long, which can
happen when the system is busy.

Don't run those tests unless "thorough" tests are requested. This
disables those tests by default.

e13c646465 gcancellable: add back lost NULL check in g_cancellable_cancel()
Commit f975858e86 removed the NULL check in g_cancellable_cancel() by
accident which makes it crash when called with NULL.

Add the check back and add a test so this doesn't happen again.

17bb9d542c gio/tests/cancellable: fix to still work when running slowly
The test was assuming that all cancelled ops would finish within a
certain amount of time, but this often failed under valgrind. Instead,
just run the loop until all of the ops have actually finished.
