Remove g_type_init() calls
...
Very many testcases, some GLib tools (resource compiler, etc) and
GApplication were calling g_type_init().
Remove those uses, as they are no longer required.

New function: g_clear_object()
...
By analogy to g_clear_error, takes a pass-by-reference GObject reference
and, if non-%NULL, unrefs it and sets it equal to %NULL.
