Thomas Haller 3cf6d22f76 Revert "Merge branch 'th/gobj-doc-weakref' into 'main'" ...

This change appears to cause crashes. Revert for now, to investigate why
exactly that happens.

This reverts commit 22f57fce78, reversing
changes made to 549a966b46.
