  * Variable scope reductions as suggested by cppcheck
  * Remove obsolete casts from Xmalloc() and Xcalloc() calls
  * autogen.sh: use quoted string variables
  * autogen: add default patch prefix
  * autogen.sh: use exec instead of waiting for configure to finish
