* find_fade: declare argument as const
  * Handle realloc() failure
  * Use reallocarray() if it is available
  * Convert sprintf calls to snprintf
  * Use C99 struct initializers
  * Add {} around for loops containing multiple lines of code
  * More variable scope reductions
